Clutter come into existence due to a number of reasons such as poor cleaning habits, unwillingness to get rid of junk, lethargy and lack of time to name a few. Either way, clutter makes our homes untidy and unsafe to dwell in.

This blog will provide you with a few easy storage tips to help you declutter you home.

The first step to devise a strategy as systematic planning saves hours of tiresome labour. Decide on what you really want to achieve before you start. Settle on what you want in each room and where you put the stuff those belongings to other rooms.

Start small so that the rewards are quick. This will ensure that you are not disheartened and quit easily. New shelving, hooks and hamper systems can do wonders to declutter your laundry rooms and closets. This will help you arrange your belongings so that you can find them in an instant. Try and purchase furniture that has internal storage space. This will give you additional room to put things away. If you have heaps of junks lying around, decide on what you want to get rid of and what you want to keep. Selling some of it or donating it to the less fortunate are also good options.

The next step is to gather all the help you can from friends and family. They can not only be trusted in your house with valuable belongs but will also help you get rid of all that redundant stuff that you are emotionally attached to. Hiring the services of a professional organizer can also make things easier. They can not only provide you with useful suggestions but also lend that professional edge to your efforts.

Renting a self storage unit for items that are unnecessary in your house is an excellent option. This will allow you to clear each room systematically and will also give you a lot of space to store the belonging that clutter your house but are hard to get rid of.

Innovative Storage Solutions for Your Home

All of us desire bigger homes but this may not always be possible due to factors such high real estate prices and commuting problems. Fortunately there is a lot of usable space in all our homes that we fail to take advantage of. In this blog post, I will be talking about storage solutions and innovative techniques to create additional space in your homes.

The space under the staircase is a great place to store belongings that you don't use every day. You can start by enclosing the area and installing a door for easy access. The next step is to add some shelves. You can also add lighting and a small desk or a pull out shelf as a desk area depending on how much room you have. The space can also be used to create a small play house for children but make sure that the door can be opened from the inside for safety reasons.

A mini library is also a great way of putting this piece of space to better use. You can do this by lining the walls under the stairs with neat shelves to store all sizes of books and magazines. Add spotlights or angled floor lamps to illuminate the books as well as to provide reading light.

If this storage area is located near your kitchen or pantry, you can set up an area to store all your oversized products that are too large for your kitchen cabinets. In this way, your kitchen supplies can be neatly stored and are more accessible.

A work space can also be easily set up in the free area under the stairs as you don’t need much storage space for a compact home office. Start by installing a desk or a fitted work surface to place a lap top or PC on. You may even fix shelves to the walls above the desk and install a telephone jack and power outlets for electronic equipment. Office equipment like answering machines, fax machines and printers can easily be set up as well.

It is definitely a shame to waste this valuable space so make sure to look up innovative storage tips and experiment with different ideas so as to put it to better use.

You Deserve the Best and So Does Your Car

Investing in a fancy new ride must have definitely been an expensive investment. This may probably be the reason why most people treat their cars like their own children. A new car may no doubt last you a “life time” provided you give it the proper care and love. One of the worst times to leave a car parked out in the open is during the cold months of winter. This is definitely is terrible idea, especially if you need it to start once spring rolls in. Investing in a quality car storage unit will make sure that your prized possession remains in tip top condition thought the year.

Car storage units can also come in handy in these situations: when you are going out on a long vacation, when you want additional space in your garage; or when you are refurbishing it. What’s more, you can even lease one when you are moving out from one place to the other.

The purpose of this blog is to provide you with a few in useful winter car storage tips.
Make sure that the interior of your car is thoroughly cleaned. The devil is in the detail so make sure that you look under the seats for spills, residues and crumbs.  Doing this will ensure that insects and other pests do not make your warm car their home during the cold winter months. Also, do not forget to cover your car in order to guarantee that it continues to remain spotless over the winter.

The problems with car electronics are that they continue to draw small amounts of electricity even when not in use. Disconnecting your cars battery will ensure that your car battery is not drained out by the time you bring it out of storage.

Car tires have a tendency to develop flat spots when they are left in a garage or a storage unit for a long time. Make sure that you take the tires of the ground (using concrete blocks or jack stands) to ensure that they ride smoothly when the car is returned in spring.
Before you select a winter car storage facility make sure that you carry out adequate research and contact local facilities that offer this service.

The Comprehensive Guide to Festive Packing

Music festivals are an amazing way to spend a weekend outdoors while savouring some spectacular musical performances. Although these festivals are an ecstatic way to celebrate life, they can quickly spin into disaster if you are not adequately prepared with supplies. After attending a great number of music festivals, I have devised a “guide to festive packing that will ensure that your music festival experience is a fabulous one.

Unless you want the rain dampening your spirits during the festival, I strongly suggest that you pack a suitable raincoat. By “raincoat” I am not referring to some random low-cost poncho that will leave you freezing after spending hours standing in the rain. A raincoat and some warm layers will ensure that you remain warm and dry throughout the day.

Another thing that should be on the top of your festive packing list is toiletries. Wet wipes, toilet rolls and tissues should be carried on your person at all times. Hand sanitizers can also be life saving when water is scarce. Everybody likes a nice tan but getting sunburnt is definitely not fun. Not only is it painful but also quite dangerous. Do not forget to equip yourself with a bottle of sun tan, I am sure that you will not regret it.

Packing comfortable, protective footwear for the music festival is also extremely important. This is because you will be spending long hours walking and dancing about. Make sure that the pair of shoes you are caring are ones that you have worn before so that you can be sure that they won’t rub or leave you with blisters the size of pancakes. Music festivals are pretty crowded with people cheering their favourite bands and jumping about therefore sturdy, closed shoes are a must (unless you don’t mind someone stomping your toes).

Lastly, make sure that you pack a flashlight and a phone charger. This will come in handy especially if you are planning to camp out during the music festival. An extra set of batteries should also be carried in case of an emergency.

Once all these bare necessities are packed, you can now think about packing some fun stuff too. Stuff like glow sticks, playing cards and hula hoops can be great fun at night once the once the music comes to a halt.

Protect Your Fragile Items with These Handy guidelines

As though moving weren’t already such a tedious affair, packing fragile items can become quite hectic as well. The last thing anyone would want to find upon reaching their new residence is to find some brittle priceless item destroyed. Moving can sometimes be quite a bumpy ride and therefore delicate objects should be packed and stored in secure fashion.

The following are a few easy tips that can help you avoid a potentially disastrous episode:

It is said that the early bird gets the worm and this saying applies to packing as well. Start packing well in advance so that you have enough time to pack breakables carefully. Last minute hurrying may lead to one forgetting about important details and this could prove detrimental to fragile items.

It is best advised that all breakables such and glassware and ceramic items be packed in small boxes to ensure that you don’t over pack the box. Another useful tip when packing boxes is to make sure that all durables are packed at the bottom of boxes with fragile items on top to avoid breakage. All ceramic dishware should be packed with a layer of bubble wrap sandwiched between each plate to prevent them from banging against each other and getting chipped.

It is also important to secure all breakables with plenty of cushioning in the packing boxes. There are many things including household items that can be used to protect and store fragile items. These may include bubble wrap, shredded paper, foam peanuts, old towels, bed sheets and old boxes. Also, make sure to secure both the bottom seam as well as the open edges with at least two full length strips of sturdy tape.

Some people may even require storage facilities to make the move smooth and stress-free. In this case make sure that removal and Storage Company has climate controlled storage to protect leather items, antiques, paintings etc

Last but not the least; make sure that all boxes that contain breakables are labeled “fragile” so that they are handled with care by the movers. It is also important to find out if the relocation company you have selected includes insurance in their removal costs.

A painless way to prepare your kids for a move

Moving homes can be quite stressful especially if children become part of the equation. Not only do they make the move even more taxing, but also if not done systematically it can leave them with a bitter impression about the entire process. Children may have a propensity to feel tensed and depressed about leaving the house that they were born in and the area where most of their friends reside. They may not fully understand what exactly is going on and this can leave them feeling rather confused. If this occurs it is most likely to reflect in the time they take to adjust to their new school and home that you move them to.

Fortunately there are a few simple steps that you can undertake before the moversand packers arrive in order to minimize the stress involved with the relocation:

Try to make the move sound as exciting as possible by getting them more engaged with the process. Involve them in the planning and ask them for their suggestions as this will make them familiar with the notion of moving to a brand new home. Talk to them about the situation and give them a clear picture about what exactly happens during each step of the move.

One uncertainty that worries children to great extent is the fear of losing their old friends and making new ones. Assure your kids that they can always come back to visit their old neighbourhood. Encourage them to click pictures with all their friends and of places where they spent the early days of their childhood. Organizing a farewell party is also an excellent idea. If your kids are a bit older then you can tell them to collect the phone numbers and email-ids of their friends so that they can keep in touch.

Giving children a tour of their new home and neighbourhood can do a lot to minimize anxiety and increase excitement. Not only can they sneak a glimpse of their new rooms and play areas but they can also get an opportunity to meet other children in the neighbourhood. During the actual move, allow children to pack some of their own belongings. This will fill them with a sense of responsibility and make them feel more comfortable with moving homes.

Last but not the least; do not forget to carry some of their favourite toys and snacks while travelling to avoid any pesky tantrums along the way.
